A Bald Cap Alternative-Hair Soaping Tutorial

What you will need:

  • Soap (I used Dawn dish soap, possibilities are endless here. I’ll test out some others later)
  • Nylons
  • Liquid Latex
  • Spirit Gum
  • Mousse or liquid foundation
  • Powder

1. Put soap on the area of your hair you wish to cover. Keep piling it on until your hair is all slick and flat

2. Cut a piece of nylon to fit the area you soaped. I used some knee high stockings from Walgreens-super cheap. The closer you can get to your skin tone, the better

Use latex (and spirit gum, if you have it) to adhere the edges of the nylon to your forehead and temple. Really layer the late on to blend those edges into your skin. The edges in your hair should slick down with the soap, but you may use clips or bobby pins as well.

2. Soap the nylon. Lots of soap. Then blow dry (you can wait for it to dry if the hair dryer isn’t available.)

3. Apply some foundation to the entire nylon piece-blending it into your face.

4. Top your shiny scalp with some powder to give it a matte look. Now you are bald.

You can make this completely bald or use this technique to make a hairless patch for a wound, an Elizabethan hairline look, or you could be a lion. Whatever you like.
